Hi, I’m Barbara Nadas, a singer-songwriter from Hungary.

From the moment I held my first red microphone at the age of five, I knew I had found my calling. That simple object became the key to a world where I could be fearless and fully express my true self. Singing, for me, is a state of liberation where fear doesn’t exist, and I embrace this freedom every time I perform.

My journey to becoming an artist has been filled with incredible experiences that shaped my confidence. Initially, I played drums in a teen band, but it was my voice that resonated deeply with my heart. When I performed in the musical „Fame”at the Hungarian Operetta Theatre, I realized that singing was my true passion.

Choosing my artist name was an evolution. Starting with „Nara” and then „Naren,” I ultimately decided to embrace my own name, Barbara Nadas, as it felt the most authentic and international.

At fourteen, I experienced the spotlight in a cover band, where we played a wide array of music, and I sang with them for ten joyful years. Those moments, with the crowd dancing and feeling the music, were pivotal in my growth as an artist.

Watching „The Amy Winehouse Story” was a turning point for me. Amy Winehouse, my idol, inspired me to write my own songs, even when faced with personal challenges. My early songs were about unfulfilled love, but my latest releases have delved into deeper reflections on life, loss, and resilience.

One of the most personal and significant releases in my career is my latest single „Stay.” The song is an intimate reflection on grief, inspired by the passing of my father when I was 18. „Stay” captures the emotional struggle of feeling left behind as the world keeps moving forward. It speaks to the pain of loss, the fear of being stuck, and the resilience to remain true to oneself, even when life becomes overwhelming.

The lyrics—”The years are passing, life is moving, and I stay / Everyone goes, and everyone flows, but I stay…”—resonate with anyone who has faced grief or life’s challenges. The song is a testament to staying grounded in the face of adversity. „Stay” has not only been a healing process for me but also a way to connect with my audience, many of whom have shared how the song has helped them through their own struggles. The release of „Stay” has marked a new phase in my artistic journey—one that focuses on vulnerability, healing, and growth.

Recording my songs acapella on my phone led me to collaborate with Krisztián Burai, a renowned Hungarian music producer. Our partnership resulted in a feature that has garnered over 1.5 million views on YouTube.

In 2018, at the Berklee 5 Weeks Summer Performance Program, I decided to write and sing in English to reach a broader audience. This decision culminated in my first English original release in 2022, produced with Smithmusix and Marc Urselli.

I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my fans. Your encouragement keeps me brave and inspired, and I couldn’t do this without you! Thank you for staying with me on this journey.
